Sponsors Back ‘Bigger and Better’ VPMA Congress Press Release June 2010 The Veterinary Practice Management Association (VPMA www.vpma.co.uk) President Rebekka Fiorani has been thanking sponsors who have signed up to support VPMA Congress 2011, “Without the help of our sponsors it would not be possible to offer the cost effective, high quality practice management CPD VPMA Congress provides and this year we want to be bigger and better! In 2011 the support of our sponsors will allow us to ring the changes, offering a wider choice of topics that appeal to those setting up in practice or moving into management for the first time , as well as offering state of the art lectures in marketing and motivation that are sure to give even the most experienced practitioners and practice managers food for thought. For the first time we are also offering a stream that will focus on personal and professional development which will help individuals to leave with some concrete action plans. This is not just an event for VPMA members; it’s the profession’s premier management conference so anyone who feels that they are a decision maker or aspires to be one, should attend.” Next year’s congress will take place in Kenilworth on 27 th- 29 th January 2011 in a four star manor house hotel with 17 acres of grounds. After last year’s congress enjoyed record attendance, this new venue offers the opportunity for even more delegates to attend and the VPMA is emphasising that everyone is welcome. Tim Webster is GB Sales Manager for Norbrook Laboratories who are principal sponsors, “We are delighted to once again have the opportunity to support this fantastic Congress for the 3 rd year running. We have been impressed by the levels of expertise the VPMA offers its members, and by the professional attitude and hard-work of Practice Managers. This consistently well-organised and well-attended event gives us an excellent chance to speak to decision makers and discuss how we can meet their needs.” Nestlé Purina PetCare is an Enhanced sponsor. Emma Eagle, Vet Channel and Recommendations Manager commented, “We are proud to sponsor the 2011 VPMA congress. We understand the challenges that Practice Managers and Owners face everyday in their roles and are keen to support them, with the right tools, to build on their overall practice performance. We welcome the chance to talk to delegates about how we can help." Standard sponsors Alison Lambert and Wendy Miller-Smith of Onswitch are equally enthused by the coming event, “As providers of market research and business development services to the veterinary industry, Onswitch work with practice managers and owners every day. We see the improvements that are possible in practice turnover, staff morale and new client registrations when people are committed to the provision of excellence in customer service as well as in veterinary care. Onswitch passionately believe that the future is bright for those practices where management is proactive and decisive, and we are proud to be able to play a part in helping the VPMA promote and deliver this message.” VPMA members have a wealth of knowledge about practice management and Congress is the perfect venue for anyone looking for new opportunities, or help with problem solving. * * * * * * * * * * VPMA Congress 2010 Enjoys Record Attendance Press Release February 2010 The Veterinary Practice Management Association (VPMA) is celebrating after record attendance led to the annual 2010 congress being closed to further registrations. The event, which took place just outside Oxford , was the 16th annual congress, providing a programme of lectures to inform delegates about all aspects of veterinary practice management and development. The VPMA Congress attracts practice managers and decision makers from across the country. Highlights included an inspirational opening talk from Pete Goss, International Yachtsman, former Royal Marine and winner of a Legion d’Honneur for saving another sailor in the middle of a race after turning his yacht round and sailing into hurricane force winds for two days. He definitely fulfilled expectations of an exciting opening event and Iain Lorraine , VPMA Congress President for the VPMA commented, “Over one hundred and twenty delegates sat mesmerized by his stories and adventures for over an hour and are still talking about it!” In addition to interesting lectures, workshops and debates delegates could also engage in extending their social networks and enjoying the ambience of congress. A networking party attracted 70 delegates and 150 attended a dinner dance. As Iain leaves the VPMA he will prove a hard act to follow having seen council adopt incorporation at the AGM and launch a new member benefit in the shape of an on-line forum hosted by Vetpol (www.vetpol.co.uk) which will allow virtual networking, idea generation and help foster cooperation between like minded professionals all year round. Incoming President Rebekka Fiorani was delighted to see how successful VPMA congress was this year and has set herself a challenging brief for VPMA Congress 2011, “Next year we have some exciting plans to roll VPMA Congress out to a wider audience. We aim to broaden our appeal and have planned highly relevant lecture streams that will appeal to vets, nurses and experienced practice managers alike. Practice management is something many of us find ourselves doing – as a veterinary nurse who has recently bought into a practice I’ve been in that position and continue to find my skills being developed across a range of disciplines. Next year’s congress aims to energise, enthuse and educate and will help everyone with an interest in managing a practice or thinking about their future, learn those vital skills. Watch this space!” Press Contact: Susan McKay Tel 01284 386891 susan@companionconsultancy.com
